 The genuine March 14 Movement
|
For immediate release
Tuesday, March 09, 2010
Australia: The United Australian Lebanese Movement (UALM) will hold dual BBQ’s in Sydney and Adelaide in celebration of the genuine March 14 Movement that started Lebanon down its path of liberation from foreign tutelage.
March 14th 1989 the Lebanese Government headed by Michel Aoun took a defiant stand for Lebanon’s Sovereignty and the people echoed these sentiments around the world. A decade and a half later saw the culmination of a struggle that spanned exile, the Diaspora and the Lebanese street resulting in laws passed by world parliaments and resolutions by the United Nations and a mass demonstration that included all Lebanese.
The genuine March 14 Movement spanned from March 1989 to April 2005 when Syria withdrew its last soldier out of Lebanon.
The UALM cordially invites you to commemorate and celebrate this significant period in history at its annual barbecue on Sunday the 14 of March 2010 in two state capitals.
