UALM: Time to build a new Lebanon based on trust and unity.
For Immediate release 16.12.09
Sydney, Australia: The United Australian Lebanese Movement (UALM) welcomes the current climate of stability and optimism that has flourished in Lebanon as a result of efforts by political parties and leaders to heal ongoing rifts. The concerted efforts by certain parties to partake in dialogue and openness has led to friendly relations being established amongst political parties and this has had positive affects across Lebanon.
The smear campaigns and fierce rhetoric which was once a prominent fixture in the political landscape of Lebanon has subsided. There seems to be a real push toward breaking down the barriers which have existed for quite a while.
The positive ramifications for Lebanon and the region are endless. The UALM declares its support for any effort that aims at bringing Lebanese political parties together and hopes that it will be the catalyst for permanent national reconciliation, political stability, peace and progress for Lebanon.
A spin off from stability will include the strengthening of the institutions in Lebanon. The Lebanese economy also stands to gain which bodes well for Lebanon’s financial future.
The UALM calls on all Lebanese groups to take advantage of the opportunities that have been created by the current political environment to move forward and introduce a new period of trust, partnership and unity. The UALM believes that all groups in Lebanon are capable of this and we look forward to witnessing the dawn of a strong, unified and prosperous Lebanon.
The political resolution should set the basis for a national dialogue, whereby all issues are addressed and agreed upon through transparent and honest debate. The constant dialogue is paramount if the positives of the current situation are to be exploited.
The UALM hopes all parties in Lebanon heed the push for change and join in working for the betterment of Lebanon and the Lebanese people, that have had to endure so much pain and suffering.
