UALM Welcomes Dr May Akl to Australia

UALM: Visit will help correct misconceptions relating to Lebanon

Sydney, Australia: Dr May Akl, Foreign Press Secretary to General Michel Aoun MP, Leader of the Free Patriotic Movement and the Change and Reform Bloc in the Lebanese Parliament has kicked off her visit to Australia in Sydney. She is accompanied by Dr. Pierre Raffoul, National Coordinator of the Free Patriotic Movement in Lebanon.

Apart from meetings with federal politicians, advisors, academics and journalists, the United Australian Lebanese Movement (UALM) has organised several public events in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. These events will provide an opportunity for members of the public to be updated as to the current situation especially in the aftermath of the parliamentary elections.

Dr. May Akl comes to Australia to give the point of view of the Free Patriotic Movement which has the largest Christian bloc and the second largest bloc overall in the Lebanese parliament. Her career in Lebanese politics spans a decade in what is generally a male dominated environment in the West let alone the Middle East.
